Abyssful Night
The weather is weird here.
I was just outside smoking with hubby. It�s dark in the sky, except for a patch to the south where there is a bundle of clouds with rays of bright moonlight shining behind it. It�s almost supernatural.
You sit outside and the night is just silent and dead like the eye of a storm. If you sit long enough, you see brief flashes of lightening, but no thunder. In a dry heat, that�s not good. It means a high potential for fire.
North of us looms a large fire in cave creek. It�s already pushed hundreds of families out of their homes.
It�s an odd night. It fills your imagination with thoughts of devious criminals lurking in shadows waiting to make their next kill. Creatures of the dark hide in black holes and if you are aware, you might see a brief glimmer of the moon turn their eyes into silvery disks.
Most of us are safe in our homes watching the horror of the fire consume everything in its path. News type scrolls at the bottom of television screen reporting a 0% containment, a statistic I�ve never seen before.
Pray to whatever god you pray to tonight for the poor souls at the mercy of mother nature.
